Napster features D&L's new EP, calls it "Bluegrass-tastic"

At first glance, you might mistake these twins for newcomers, but they've been recording and touring on the country and bluegrass festival circuit for a dozen years or more, including multiple performances at the Grand Ole Opry. Dana and Lauren, who sing and play lovely banjo and fiddle, respectively, are currently going by their first names only, but they got their start at just 14 as The Shankman Twins, and after adding their bass-playing brother to the act, they became Malibu Storm (they're from the West Coast, you see), and had a bit of a hit with a bluegrassy cover of Def Leppard's "Photograph." Now D&L are set to release a new self-titled album, previewed by their new four song EP. It's a nice taste, featuring backing by bassist Josh Moreau (Katy Perry, Hoobastank), drummer Chase Duddy (Ryan Cabrera) and guitarist Ethan Kaufman (Ryan Cabrera). It also includes its own bluegrass-tastic cover, this time of 2Pac's rap classic "California Love" (they're from the West Coast, you see). It's appealing stuff and makes us look forward to the rest of the album. Word.
